Gatto Nero stands as one of the oldest and most iconic cafe-restaurants on the island of Corfu. Our story began decades ago, established by the Chanou brothers on the ground floor of a historic stone mansion—a setting that continues to echo the architectural heritage and timeless charm of the Ionian spirit.
Our Identity & Design
In reimagining our visual identity, we sought a symbol that honors our roots while celebrating our craft. Our logo centers on the fork, reimagined with a dual purpose:
- Culinary Heritage: The use of the fork serves as a clear tribute to the world of gastronomy and our dedication to the art of dining.
- The Signature: Placed in a deliberate, symmetrical mirror arrangement, the forks create a minimalist visual representation of a cat’s whiskers.
This subtle design detail bridges our name—Gatto Nero—with our primary passion: food. Today, we invite you to experience a piece of Corfiot history, where the legacy of the past meets the creative flavors of the present.
